Michigan’s Sixth Congressional District is an idyllic place on the shores of Lake Michigan, home to four seasons that offer residents and those who visit endless opportunities to explore, relax, and spend time in the great outdoors with family and friends. The district encompasses the southwest corner of Michigan, a region that stretches from the southern shores of Lake Michigan to the outskirts of Battle Creek, and from the Michigan-Indiana border to Holland and just south of Grand Rapids. Six counties make up the Sixth District: Allegan, BerrienCass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren, each unique in their own way.

This diverse district has two urban centers, Kalamazoo/Portage and Benton Harbor/Niles/St. Joseph. It has a strong industrial base and a diverse farming community. Industrial work ranges from tool and die shops and pharmaceuticals to home appliances, auto parts, and medical devices. Southwest Michigan farms produce everything from asparagus to zucchini and strawberries to peaches in the summer. Fall brings our farmers harvests of corn, apples and pumpkins, and wineries dot the landscape, serving as an activity that can be enjoyed year round. The region is also home to a number of our nation’s leading institutions of higher education, which drive research and local economic growth. These institutions include Andrews University, Glen Oaks Community College, Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Lake Michigan College, Southwestern Michigan College, and Western Michigan University.

Southwest Michigan has a great deal to offer families, businesses, and visitors alike. I hope that you will take full advantage of what this wonderful area has to offer.
