Please check with your State of residence in the U.S. on how to get a criminal record check from your State.

Getting your fingerprints taken

If your State requires you to provide your fingerprints to obtain your criminal records check, please note U.S. embassies and consulates do not provide this service. U.S. citizens can obtain a letter from the U.S. Embassy asking local police experts to take their fingerprints. There is a $50 fee for this letter. You need to make an appointment for notarial services to obtain it.

Your criminal records check needs to be authenticated for use in Spain. You need to get the Hague Apostille affixed on the document. Information on where to obtain the Apostille.
