Public Affairs Section

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Port Louis organizes a wide range of public diplomacy programs and activities in support of Mission goals.  Through its educational exchange and information programs, the Public Affairs Section seeks to engage the Mauritian public on U.S. society and culture, American democratic institutions and values, and U.S. Policy initiatives.

Public Diplomacy in Mauritius administers a full range of information and cultural programs: Fulbright Scholarships, International Visitor Program, Educational Advising, and the Information Resource Center.  The Public Affairs Section works closely with a wide variety of Mauritian groups and institutions which include the media, universities and other educational organizations, NGOs, business organizations and the Government of Mauritius.

The Public Affairs Section handles all press inquiries, and works closely with the local media and government officials.  We distribute a daily electronic news file called the Washington File.  This document provides timely and authoritative information about the U.S. and its policies, including official statements, speeches, transcripts of press conferences and briefings, congressional testimony.
