American Studies

The American Studies projects seek to promote a better understanding of the United States among foreign University faculty abroad whose professional responsibilities center on the study of the society, culture and institutions of the United States of America.  The ultimate objective of these programs is to promote the development and improvement of courses and teaching about the United States of America at universities abroad.  Each institute focuses on a particular discipline or theme, and is planned and conducted by a U.S.-based host institution (typically a college or university).  Although the candidates’ scholarly and professional credentials are an important consideration in determining suitability for acceptance in the Institute, justification of how participation will enhance course offerings in U.S. Studies at the candidate’s home institution is equally or even more important.
