Doing Business in Uzbekistan

With a fast-growing economy and the largest population in Central Asia, Uzbekistan offers a number of opportunities for U.S. companies. Uzbekistan remains an industrial center of the region, with economic policies designed to attract manufacturing and service companies from around the world.

At the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, the Economic Section works to promote the export of U.S. goods, services and technology into Uzbekistan, as well as assisting U.S. companies interested in setting up operations in the country.

  • The Embassy Economic Section offers a range of services to U.S. companies interested in doing business in Uzbekistan. Economic officers can help you identify trade opportunities, find local trading partners, launch your company, and obtain market research reports. The Embassy also promotes the export of U.S. goods and services by organizing trade delegations of entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan to major trade events in the U.S. The Embassy can also arrange meeting for these delegations with U.S. suppliers.
  • The Foreign Commercial Service provides extensive information on major trade shows in Uzbekistan as well. Copies of the 2012 Investment Climate Statement and the Doing Business in Uzbekistan Country Commercial Guide are available free of charge to the public. To view the report, please click on the following link: Doing Business in Uzbekistan 2012 CCG (PDF - 719 kB). For companies new to Uzbekistan’s emerging markets and business climate, these documents can be particularly useful.
  • In addition, there are for-fee business facilitation services available to U.S. companies which include: assistance in setting up business meetings, company match-making, company profile reports, search for agents/distributors, and others. The U.S. Embassy in Tashkent provides these services in partnership with the U.S. Commercial Service office in Ankara, Turkey. You can find more information about these services on their website, at http://export.gov/turkey/
  • The Foreign Agriculture Service is a part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and provides trade contacts for foreign buyers looking for U.S. food and beverage products, market briefs to help U.S. firms enter and compete in foreign food markets, promotional materials for U.S. food exports, a directory of American food suppliers, and trade show assistance for U.S. suppliers. The Foreign Agriculture Service is also responsible for agricultural trade issues such as reform of farm support, food aid and biotechnology. For more information, visit http://www.fas.usda.gov/
