Vision

The vision for the BAMC Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation's is to be the model for delivery of musculoskeletal care and the "Crown Jewel" of residency training programs for Orthopaedics and Physical Therapy within the DOD and highly integrated to maintain a fit force, deliver outstanding medical care and foster a spirit of inquiry through professional development, education and research.

About Us

The Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation (DOR) at Brooke Army Medical Center is dedicated to providing state of the art orthopaedic and rehabilitative care to active duty soldiers of all services, their dependents, retirees and all eligible beneficiaries. As the medical center for the Great Plains Regional Medical Command, our area of coverage spans the entire Great Plains area from Canada to South and Central America. We also proudly serve the San Antonio and South Texas communities in providing superior trauma care to the severely injured as the Army's only Level One trauma center. Working in the newest Army hospital, we provide care to over 40,000 patients annually and perform 2,500 operations annually. The staff includes all major subspecialties to include hand, foot and ankle, sports, spine, total joints (adult reconstruction), pediatrics and trauma. This active academic program supports an outstanding residency that has produced many leaders in Army orthopaedics and in the civilian community. We also support the Wounded Warrior with the Center for the Intrepid Amputee Center and the Traumatic Brain Injury Service.
