The Soldier, Civilian, and Family Resource Center is a portal designed to keep you up-to-date with breaking news and existing information and resources for the U.S. Army Medical Command and the U.S. Army.  The links below provide information on a wide variety of programs, services, benefits, and entitlements for Soldiers, Civilians, and Families.  Included are points of contact, tips, tools, training, and more.

Announcements:

The Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command is transitioning the MyArmyLifetoo.com web site to its new Army OneSource web site, with completion by summer 2009.  MyArmyLifetoo.com remains an active site during the transition period, but its appearance may change from time to time.  MyArmyLifetoo.com has a link to the Army OneSource home page, where users may click for additional resources and information.

MyArmyLifetoo.com and Army OneSource each provide a comprehensive approach for community support and services to help maintain the readiness of individuals, Families and communities by developing, coordinating and delivering services which promote resiliency and stability during war and peace.  Information and resources are available at both sites during this transition period MyArmyLifetoo.com & Army OneSource.

American Red Cross (ARC): (http://www.redcross.org/ American Red Cross personnel form a global network in more than 700 U.S. chapters, 58 military installations worldwide, and in forward deployed locations in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq.  American Red Cross services to Active Duty and community-based military includes emergency communications, access to financial assistance from the military aid societies, counseling, and referral to community resources.  The American Red Cross also provides services to veterans.

Army Behavioral Health: (http://www.behavioralhealth.army.mil/) This site provides resources and information regarding mental well-being for Soldiers, civilians, and their Family members.  Provided by the U.S. Army Medical Department, it is intended for interested Soldiers, civilians, Family members, the public, news media and Army Medical Department Beneficiaries.

Army Community Covenant: (http://www.acsim.army.mil/community_covenant/) The Army Community Covenant is designed to develop and foster effective state and community partnerships with the Army in improving the quality of life for Soldiers and their Families, both at their current duty station and as they transfer from state-to-state.

Army Emergency Relief (AER): (http://www.aerhq.org/) AER is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the Secretary of War and the Army Chief of Staff.  AER is the Army's own emergency financial assistance organization that is dedicated to "Helping the Army Take Care of Its Own".  AER funds are made available to commanders having AER Sections to provide emergency financial assistance to Soldiers (active and retired) and their dependents when there is a valid need.  AER services also include Family member scholarships (Dependent Children Scholarship Program, Overseas Spouse Education Assistance Program, and Stateside Spouse Scholarship Assistance Program).

Army Families Online: (http://www.armyFamiliesonline.org/skins/WBLO/home.aspx?AllowSSL=true) This site provides external linkages as a convenience to provide accurate and up-to-date information resources for members of the Army Well-Being constituent communities - Soldiers (Active, National Guard and Reserve), civilians, retirees, veterans and Families.

Army Knowledge Online (AKO): (https://www.us.army.mil/) Army Knowledge Online (AKO) is a corporate intranet for the Army that provides secure access to Army web assets, tools, and services to Soldiers, civilians, retirees, and Families.

Army Medical Department Center and School: (http://www.cs.amedd.army.mil/) The U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School (AMEDDC&S) is the largest military school of allied health in the free world, training nearly 25,000 students in resident courses and 15,000 in correspondence work each year.  The AMEDDC&S also has command and control of the U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Sam Houston.

Army OneSource: (http://aos.myarmylifetoo.com/) Army OneSource provides access to all Family programs and services, regardless of geographical location.  This delivery system harnesses the resources that are already in place and uses personal contact and technology to improve on the delivery of service so that Families get support closest to where they live.

Army Wounded Warrior (AW2) Program: (https://www.aw2.army.mil/) The Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) serves the most severely wounded, injured or ill Soldiers and their Families and helps them with their transition back into civilian or military life.  AW2 has AW2 Advocates located at all major military treatment facilities (MTFs) and VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) who provide on the ground support to wounded, injured, or ill Soldiers with disability ratings of 30% or more.  AW2 serves Soldiers and their Families for however long they are needed.

Child, Youth and School (CYS) Services: CYS programs offer care at all ages (0-18), in many forms (facilities, homes, and community partnerships), in all locations, and for every mission.  CYS programs are designed to meet the individual and developmental needs of the whole child.  CYS programs promote and support each child's physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative and language development.  CYS provides developmentally appropriate hands-on activities, which are age appropriate.  For more information visit:

Civilian Employees: The US Army has employed civilians since 1776 in support of men and women in uniform.  The Department of Defense is America's oldest, largest, busiest, and most successful "company".  Today, with over 250,000 civilian employees, the Army is the Department of Defense's largest federal employer.  The links below provide information and tools to assist with questions concerning Civilian Human Resources policies, procedures, and employment opportunities across the Department of Defense.  For more information, please visit the links listed below:

Dental: TRICARE® provides several dental options.  The TRICARE® Dental Program (TDP) is a voluntary, high quality, cost-effective dental care plan for eligible active duty Family members, National Guard and Reserve members and their Families.  Retirees and their Families are not eligible for the TDP; however, they may enroll in the TRICARE® Retiree Dental program (TRDP).  See these sites for more information:

  • MilitaryStudent.org - A Department of Defense portal for tools and information needed to make informed choices regarding the appropriate educational setting for each child.
  • School Liaison Services - School Liaison Officers provide access to a wide range of resources to facilitate Army youth education transitions.

Family Readiness Groups: Find a virtual Family Readiness Group (vFRG).  A vFRG is a means of direct communication to a unit's Command information.  This link provides access to a map to locate vFRGs throughout MEDCOM, as well as the Army, and to apply on-line for access to vFRGs as you change assignments. My Hooah 4 Health: This is the U.S. Army health promotion and wellness web site.  Its four main sections focus on the promotion of health in the areas of body, mind, spirit, and environment.  The site offers a wealth of information on health during the deployment cycle, tools to better ensure a healthy future, and sections designed specifically for kids, teens, and parents. http://www.hooah4health.com/

National Guard & Reserves: This is the link to the National Guard and Reserves and includes information and resources on Family readiness, Family programs, volunteers, training, TRICARE®, mobilization, publications, employer support.  Click on the links below for more information.

Reserves and National Guard: These are links to the Reserves and National Guard and include information and resources on Family readiness, Family programs, volunteers, training, TRICARE®, mobilization, publications, employer support, and more.

Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC): The Soldier and Family Assistance Center offers or coordinates services for entitlements and benefits counseling, military personnel services (such as ID cards), educational services, transition/employment assistance, social services (such as financial counseling, stress management, translator coordination and Exceptional Family Member services), travel pay for Family members on Invitational Travel Orders, substance abuse information and referral, coordination of legal and pastoral services, identifying lodging resources for Family members, child care referral, coordination with Army Reserve and National Guard (State and local agencies).  The Virtual Soldier and Family Assistance Center (vSFAC) links users to all SFAC locations and includes a featured links section. Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteerism stabilizes our Army communities by contributing to community cohesion, increasing self-reliance, and enhancing the well-being of our Soldiers and their Families.  The volunteer program provides an opportunity for you to gain experience in a professional atmosphere and in a position that allows you to use your specific talents and interests, as well as develop additional skills.  These sites provide information and resources on volunteer opportunities and volunteer management.

Warriors in Transition: This site provides links to information and resources for tailored and integrated support services to Warrior in Transition Service Members and their Families.  Soldier and Family Assistance Centers (SFACs) act as an information clearing house to ensure these deserving Warriors and their Families receive the information and referrals they need in a timely and convenient manner.
