Talk Show with the Consul General
On February 1, the American Center hosted a “Talk Show” with Consul General An Le and his wife Tam called “American Diplomats and the Vietnamese Tet Holiday.” The event took place at the American Center, which was transformed to capture the joyful atmosphere of Tet in Vietnam.

EducationUSA hosts Mini Fair
On January 30, EducationUSA organized its first ever mini-fair on U.S.-Vietnam Joint Programs, in order to highlight existing links between American and Vietnamese universities and to increase the flow of Vietnamese students to the United States.

Trafficking in Persons Panel Discussion
On January 18, a panelists including Mr. Georges Blanchard and Mr. Marin Postel from Alliance for Anti Trafficking, Ms. Do Thi Bach Phat from Green Bamboo Shelter, Mr. Do Van Nam and Ms. Amida Cumming from International Organization for Migration, and Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy from Thao Dan Organization discussed Trafficking in Persons with over hundred participants at the American Center.

Events conducted by English Language Fellows visiting from China
At HCMC Public Affairs Section’s invitation, Senior English Language Fellow (ELF) Gena Rhoades and ELF Carolyn Wedral, both currently based at universities in China, conducted a workshop and a presentation in Ho Chi Minh City on January 31, for local university instructors of English and students.

On January 23rd, EducationUSA Advising Center hosted an information session on “On-Campus Jobs Opportunities & OPT/CPT.” Mr. Spencer Utt, Vietnam Country Coordinator for International Admissions of Cincinnati University, gave a thorough introduction about different types of part-time jobs.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the U.S. - Vietnam Studies Corner
On January 23, students from Da Nang University's American Corner English club met to learn about and discuss Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Volunteers Kari Derenzi and Lance Gould presented on the history of racism in the US, the civil rights movement, and Dr. King and his legacy.

DAS Meghann Curtis Joined EducationUSA Outreach to Le Hong Phong High School
On January 16, ECA Deputy Assistant Secretary Meghann Curtis and Cultural Officer Anna Dupont joined the EducationUSA team in an outreach to Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. The delegation had a courtesy call with the school management board and English teachers.
