Science Behind the Restoration in South San Francisco Bay

There’s a massive and complex make-over in San Francisco Bay to reverse the loss of wetland habitat. What will it take to return to nature 15,000 acres in South Bay, which over the past 50 to 150 years have been managed as closed ponds for commercial salt production?

Get a behind-the-scenes understanding of the role of USGS science supporting this restoration process in a new USGS documentary video "Wetland Revival". Learn about the adaptive management effort to bring back tidal habitats to the Nation’s most urbanized estuary, home to 8 million people and 1 million waterbirds. The video Wetland.wmv displayed below is also available in its quicktime version--WetlandRevival.mov.
