TVA Contractor Hire-In: Training Overview

All of the training resources you need to complete the pre-access process are listed below.

Note: All required training material must be reviewed before your scheduled pre-access date. If you review it online, you may choose to take the NANTel exams in advance at either your union hall or contractor's office. If you review it using print material (or don't take them in advance), you will take the exams when you report to the site on your scheduled pre-access date. [The pre-access date is provided by your contract company.]

Training Instructions
  1. Request a NANTel account from your union business agent or contract company.
  2. Review the following NANTel training (6 in total):
    • Fitness for Duty (both TVA specific and generic)
    • Plant Access Training (both TVA specific and generic)
    • RadWorker Training (both TVA specific and generic)
    To qualify for the incentive voucher for BFN U3C14, this must be completed after November 1, 2009.
  3. Review any other required training, identified in your pre-access assessment form, before you report to the site on your scheduled pre-access date. Note: This form will be mailed to you after you submit the required TVA and contractor forms.
  4. Take the training exams. If you reviewed the training material online, you may choose to take the NANTel exams in advance at either your union hall or contractor's office. If you reviewed it using print material (or don't take them in advance), you will take the exams when you report to the site on your scheduled pre-access date.
  5. If you have any questions, contact npgpreaccess@tva.gov or 1-877-709-4473. Note: Voicemail messages are limited to 20 seconds, so please leave just your full name, phone number, and the course title.

  1. Logon to www.nantel.org.
  2. Review the following NANTel training (10 in total).
    • Cyber Security Training
    • Fitness for Duty (both TVA specific and generic)
    • Foreign Material Exclusion
    • Plant Access Training (both TVA specific and generic)
    • Radiological Respirator Training
    • RadWorker Training (both TVA specific and generic)
    • SCBA Training
  3. Take the training exams either in advance at your union hall or contractor's office or when you report to the site on your scheduled pre-access date.
