Ambassador Storella speaks to the business community at the June 11, 2011 launch of the American Chamber of Commerce Zambia.

Welcome to the U.S. Embassy Lusaka’s business portal. At Embassy Lusaka, and indeed around the world, we have put commercial diplomacy and economic statecraft front and center in our diplomatic engagement. My team and I are committed to seeing a stronger commercial relationship between the United States and the Republic of Zambia, including increased bilateral trade, and increased U.S. investment in Zambia.

We actively promote American investment, American technology, and American know-how to the Zambian marketplace. We also actively promote African markets as a destination for American trade and investment, which in turn will help Zambian companies develop the capacity to compete in the American market.

By strengthening our commercial relationship, we can help to create jobs in the United States and in Zambia. Trade and investment is not a zero sum game. A strengthened commercial relationship between the United States and Zambia will benefit both of our countries.

U. S. – Zambia bilateral trade more than doubled last year. We look forward to seeing continuing strong increases in both trade and investment between the United States and Zambia, and my team and I stand ready to work with you to make that happen.
