November 17, 2011

On 17 November, Ambassador Warlick attended the “Battle for Babies” Campaign official closing ceremony held at the Serbian Parliament where she received recognition for the USG contribution to the campaign. The campaign was launched by the B92 Fund and under the patronage of President Tadic on 1 September 2011 in order to acquire 100 new incubators for the Serbian medical facilities. This goal was exceeded within two months, so that a total of 150 incubators were provided. 17 November also marked the first World Prematurity Day. The ceremony was organized in order to acknowledge the most important donors who received awards in the form of medals. Ambassador Warlick received a medal for the USG contribution which consisted of five incubators procured in the US via the Office of Defense Cooperation. With a total value of 50,000 USD, it was one of the largest donations to the campaign. The entire event was covered live by B92 and was attended by a few media representatives. President Tadic concluded the ceremony with a short speech followed by a photo with all major contributors to the campaign.
