U.S. Embassy Belgrade Congratulates Serbia on the Arrest of Ratko Mladic

The U.S. Embassy welcomes the news that Ratko Mladic was arrested in Serbia today. We congratulate President Tadic and the Government of Serbia for its persistence and steadfast commitment to fulfilling its remaining obligations to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
We look forward to Mladic’s expeditious transfer to The Hague. With the arrest of Mladic, Serbia has taken a significant step forward in underscoring its commitment to western values and advancing its European integration aspirations.
The U.S. is determined to continue to help Serbia strengthen its role as a stable, democratic, prosperous European state and Euro-Atlantic partner.
