Ambassador Warlick Participates in Mentoring Walk in Downtown Belgrade

State Department

On Saturday, November 20, United States Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick walked with approximately 80 other women in the Mentoring Walk through downtown Belgrade.   The event was part of the Embassy-supported “Women Mentoring Women” project which paired 40 successful women leaders in Serbian public and private industry with young women on the brink of starting their own careers.

This walk was one of ten that took place on the same day in eight countries around the globe —Argentina, Ecuador, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Serbia, Swaziland and Uganda--organized by the alumnae of the FORTUNE/State Department Global Women Leaders Mentoring Partnership.  The annual public-private partnership brings international business women to the U.S for leadership and skills training and a 3-week mentorship with one of Fortune’s most powerful women executives.   Three of the alumnae who were nominated by the U.S. Embassy are mentors in this group and the driving forces behind the Women Mentoring Project in Serbia.

The Embassy gave USD 5,000 to support the walk and a series of round-table meetings between mentors and mentees to be held in the coming year.

At the press event before the walk, Ambassador Warlick stated that the U.S. Embassy was proud to be a partner in helping aspiring women professionals with the support and guidance they need to become successful leaders.
