On Friday, February 27, a group of U.S. Marine Security Guards assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade will visit Banatsko Karadjordevo, Serbia to present backpacks full of school supplies to the 229 students of the Nikola Tesla Primary School. The supplies, which were purchased with a USD 7,000 donation from the U.S. European Command are being presented in commemoration of the Sveti Sava Slava celebration.

The community of Banatsko Karadjordjevo was founded after the First World War by foreign volunteers that remained in Serbia after fighting in the Serbian Armed Forces during the war. The King granted these volunteers the land on which they found the town of Banatsko Karadjordjevo. Of the volunteers that remained, over 100 were American citizens.
