NIV Hours
Except for rare cases, nonimmigrant visa interviews are conducted by appointment only. Each individual applicant requires a separate appointment.
- Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Phone calls are accepted Monday-Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. only. (+233.21.741.100, option 2)

The Embassy is closed on Ghanaian and American Holidays
Due to the large volume of applicants and the processing time for applicants' paperwork, applicants should expect to spend approximately four (4) hours at the consulate. Additionally, in cases where visas are issued, applicants should expect to return two (2) business days later to receive their visas. Please plan accordingly when making travel arrangements.

The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Accra will not open for regular visa or American citizen services on Tuesday February, 26 2013. We will, however, remain open and available for emergency services related to the serious illness or injury, death or arrest of an American citizen on this day.
