U.S. Senator John Kerry speaks to the press on December 10 during his visit to Cairo.

During his meetings with Chairman of the SCAF, Field Marshal Tantawi, Prime Minister el-Ganzouri, Foreign Minister Amr and several political party leaders, Senator Kerry reinforced the importance of the U.S.-Egypt relationship and the impact of Egypt’s historic period of transition on the future of the entire region.   He also emphasized the need to focus on the economy and to convey “a message of confidence to the world” to attract foreign investment and encourage tourists to return.
