Twenty-six graduates earn business degrees from U.S.-sponsored program at Cairo University

September 17, 2012

Cairo — In a partnership supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Cairo University graduated 26 Bachelor of Business Administration students this past weekend.  Cairo University worked in cooperation with Georgia State University to develop and deliver the program.

“The United States hopes to support the development of an Egyptian economy that is globally competitive and provides equitable opportunities for all Egyptians,” said Sean Callahan from USAID, in his remarks to the graduates.  “We hope that you have gained not only new professional knowledge, but also the courage and creativity to build a strong and vibrant private sector in Egypt.”

Participants in the program choose one of three academic specializations – finance, marketing, or accounting.  Graduates receive a bachelor’s degree from Cairo University and a certificate from the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.

Students in the program fund their participation themselves.  U.S. Government support is focused on the provision of high-quality instructors, faculty professional development, alignment of curriculums to global standards, and building linkages with private industry and associations.
