9/17/2012 - St. Paul, Minn. -- The 133rd Airlift Wing held its annual family day at the St. Paul Air National Guard base on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. The event recognizes families' sacrifices and their importance to the wing. The festivities started with the Family Day 5K run and the event was officially kicked off in the north hanger by Col. Greg Haase, the commander of the 133rd AW, as he shared some details about the past year of the wing and its future.

Airmen and families had many different activities to choose from. Children participated in a climbing wall, pedal carts, games, and a lot of bouncy things. There was also archery, hay rides, a home run derby, classic car show, fire truck and C-130 tours and several other attractions.

Family day is organized by the chief master sergeants of the Wing, and units from all over the base pitched in to create a large event. Chief Master Sgt. Paul Kessler, the command chief of the 133rd AW, said that the wing holds Family Day to instill the family connection amongst its members and also want them to know that family is important.

According to both family members and Airmen, family day was a great success. From the Fat Lorenzo's lunch to the near perfect weather, it seemed easy for participants to enjoy the day.
