USA har som bekendt 50 stater. Dertil kommer et utal af byer. Nogle af staterne og nogle af byerne er meget kendte. For eksempel ved næsten alle hvad New York eller Los Angeles er. Udover byer og stater er der en del steder i USA der interessante. Mange af disse steder er nationalparker eller ligende og byder på unikke natur- eller kultursteder.
Magasinet English Teaching Forum, der udgives af State Department har lavet en serie af blade med fokus på udvalgte stater, byer og steder. Der er artikler om stederne og lektionsplaner der passer til emnet.
