Requests for Assistance with Federal Agencies
Senator Hirono is happy to help Hawaii residents cut through government red tape, answer questions and help get results from federal agencies.

Hawaii residents should submit a written request for help with a federal agency to the following address:

Email: hawaiioffice@hirono.senate.gov

Fax: (808) 545-4683

Senator Mazie K. Hirono
300 Ala Moana Boulevard
Suite 3-106

Honolulu, HI 96850

In your request, please provide all contact information, any relevant identification or case numbers, supporting documentation, and as much relevant information as possible so that we may respond to your request in a timely fashion.
Please note: Although the Senator and her staff cannot circumvent agency rules, force a decision in your favor, or change a decision that has already been made final, they can contact the agency on your behalf to ensure your case is being properly handled.
If you are not a Hawaii resident, please contact your home state senators or representatives. Requests from residents of other states are forwarded to one or both of the senators from that state, which may delay a response to your inquiry.

Internships
We offer internship opportunities in our Hawaii and Washington, D.C. offices. Interning for a U.S. Senator is a great opportunity for Hawaii students to learn about government and the state of Hawaii.
If you would like to apply for an internship in our office, please send us a resume, cover letter and writing sample to internships@hirono.senate.gov. Please also specify the office and the semester for which you are applying.

Military Academy Nomination Applications
Attending a military institution can provide the opportunity to earn a top-notch college education while also serving your country. All candidates for military academies must obtain an official nomination from a U.S. Senator or Member of Congress. Only candidates applying to the Coast Guard Academy are exempted from this requirement.

As a reminder, applicants need to apply directly to the academies they are interested in, as well as send applications to their two Senators and Congressional representative. Candidates are encouraged to request a nomination from both of their U.S. Senators and their representative in the U.S. House.

Applications are due in the fall. For more information, please send us an email at hawaiioffice@hirono.senate.gov.
