The Department of the Navy Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP)
is devoted to providing assistance to Historically Underutilized
Business Zone (HUBZone) small businesses in doing business with the
Navy. The HUBZone community is developing concerned areas in our
communities that need revitalization and will essentially expand
our economic development and employment growth. In 2005, the Navy
awarded $664M in prime contract awards to HUBZone Small Business.
Our goal each year is to increase HUBZone participation in our acquisition
of goods and services that support our Navy – Marine Corps
for tomorrow.
The Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Empowerment
Contracting Program was enacted into law as part of the Small Business
Reauthorization Act of 1997 (P.L. 105-135). The final rule for
the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program was published on June
11, 1998.
