Upcoming ROV Workshops in Michigan

November 16 & 17, 2012 - Intermediate Level Workshop
Square One Education Network in partnership with the Great Lakes Water Studies Institute, Northwest Michigan College are offering an Intermediate ROV Workshop in Traverse City - click here for details.  Target Participants: 4 -12 grade educators in science, technology, engineering and mathematics or any other disciplines that have interest in mentoring and helping students integrate a greater degree of technology into their ROV.

Are you interested in learning about Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) technology and its application in ocean and Great Lakes studies?
Want to learn how to build a ROV with students?   
Interested in putting together a student team to participate in a Great Lakes Regional MATE ROV Competition?  There are three levels of competition available - from basic to advanced.
Any elementary school, middle school, junior high, high school, home school, community college, or university teams of three or more with at least one adult mentor\coach may compete in our regional event.  After school clubs such as scouts or 4-H are welcome, as well as teams made up of students from more than one school.

2013 Great Lakes Regional MATE ROV Competition

The competition will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Plaza Pool in Alpena, Michigan.  
This year’s competition theme is OCEAN OBSERVING SYSTEMS

 The International MATE ROV competition is taking place June 20-22, 2013 at the King County Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center in Federal Way, WA, USA (see http://www.kingcounty.gov/recreation/parks/pools.aspx)


Interested in MORE underwater robotics competitions in Michigan?  Check this out: March 23, 2013 - Underwater Innovative Vehicle Design at Spring Lake Aquatic Center in Spring Lake MI 8am-5pm  20 teams from around the state will take the plunge and see what lies beneath the surface via student-built underwater remotely operated vehicles (see http://www.squareonenetwork.org/event/)
