Distance Learning
Thunder Bay NMS’s distance learning initiatives reach across the nation.  The Education Team carries out a variety of programs as part of the sanctuary’s three-level approach to distance learning or ‘telepresence’ connections.

Experience:  Live expeditionary broadcasts from Thunder Bay featuring archaeologists and scientists exploring the sanctuary.

Connect: with sanctuary staff who provide programs directly into classrooms and other venues, such as museums and visitor centers.

Learn:  Through interactive programs with researchers around the world shown at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center in Alpena, Michigan.

See our calendar for upcoming distance learning broadcasts or opportunities to view programs at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center in Alpena.  If you are interested in exploring opportunities for a point-to-point program to your classroom or venue please contact Sarah.A.Waters@noaa.gov
