Free Public Events at NOAA Highlight Extreme Weather, Marine Mammal Rescue, Shipwrecks, Science Careers and More
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an agency of the Commerce Department that understands and predicts changes in the Earth's environment and conserves and manages our coastal and marine resources, invited the public to its Silver Spring, Md., headquarters Feb. 6-14, 2009 to meet the people who fly “hurricane hunter” planes, forecast the weather, rescue marine animals, and explore the ocean. "NOAA: Beyond the Horizon" events featured dynamic guest speakers, video presentations, and interactive live broadcasts that engaged and inspired.
