Defense Freedom of Information Policy Office
The Defense Freedom of Information Policy Office (DFOIPO) is responsible for the formulation and implementation of FOIA policy guidance for DoD.

Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) Search 
This page allows users to search a wide collection of DoD Web sites in multiple domains. This includes many DoD agencies, unified commands, the military services -- Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps -- and other elements of DoD and military establishments.

Defense Privacy Office
The Defense Privacy Office is responsible for the implementation of the DoD Privacy Program. The program is intended to provide a comprehensive framework regulating how and when DoD collects, maintains, uses, or disseminates personal information on individuals.
tabDepartment of Justice (DOJ) Resources 
Like all federal agencies, DOJ generally is required under the FOIA to disclose records requested in writing by any person. However, agencies may withhold information pursuant to nine exemptions and three exclusions contained in the statute.

The Department of Justice's Office of Information and Privacy is the principal contact point within the executive branch for advice and policy guidance on matters pertaining to the administration of the Freedom of Information Act. For inter-agency contact purposes, here is a list of the principal FOIA contacts at all federal agencies dealing regularly with FOIA matters.

Information specifically exempted by a statute establishing particular criteria for withholding. (The language of the statute must clearly state that the information will not be disclosed.)

FOIA Denial Authorities ... (PDF, 25 KB)
When information is withheld, whether partially or fully, this constitutes a denial under FOIA. A request may be denied for one or more of the FOIA exemptions. When this happens, you will be notified in writing by an Initial Denial Authority (IDA) and given appeal rights. IDAs are denial authorities for records that fall under their functional areas.
