R&D Portfolio Management

decision_model

Systems and Intelligence Analysis personnel help government agencies evaluate technology options for a wide range of missions. These complex decision problems generally involve multiple objectives and uncertainty. To support decision makers, we develop and apply decision models to estimate the risks associated with the pursuit of new technologies, the potential value of R&D efforts, and the sensitivity of decisions to key assumptions and value judgments. We use a number of modeling techniques, including decision trees, simulation, mathematical programming, and multiattribute utility theory. Models like the one shown here are implemented using commercial software packages or customized code.
