1/30/2013 - MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. -- As a spotlight performer, individuals are chosen by leadership for demonstrating one or more of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander's intents: Foster a culture of excellence ... Develop the next generation of leaders ... Set and achieve goals.
Senior Airman Cody Bryce, 22nd Civil Engineer Squadron electrical power production journeyman, was chosen as the spotlight performer for the week of Jan. 28 to 1, 2013. He has been at McConnell for more than three years.
The Delta, Col., native has been in the Air Force for more than four years and enjoys working on cars, hunting and riding his motorcycle.
He helped install the base windmill and oversees its daily operation which helps power the base water plant, and recently briefed the windmill's capability and design futures to Maj. Gen. Timothy Byers, the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer, of the 2013 Commander in Chief's Installation Excellence Award inspection team.
His recent accomplishments include identifying and fixing longstanding defects on a 200kW generator.
"Bryce's expertise in his career field has already made him a trusted mentor in his shop," said Maj. Robert Liu, 22nd CES commander. "He recently trained two new Airmen on proper generator cooling system maintenance."
Additionally, he replaced a defective thermostat on a 250 kW generator providing emergency power to the communications data automation center ensure 100 percent emergency power for temperature sensitive communications equipment.
Who is the most positive influence in your life and why?
My dad is my most influential person in my life because he taught me the value of hard work and family.
If you could give advice to a new Airman, what would it be and why?
My advice to a new Airman would be to find someone with good morals and great work ethic to be your mentor because that person will help you go far.
What is one goal that you have already accomplished, or would like to accomplish, during your Air Force career?
During my Air Force career a goal I would like to accomplish is complete my Community College of the Air Force degree and start on my auctioneer schooling.
Where is the most interesting place you have traveled and why do you feel that way?
Well I haven't been to many places but one place I thought was awesome was Mount Rushmore National Memorial. It's unbelievable that people can carve something so big out of something so hard.
If you had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
If I could meet anyone in the world it would be George Strait because I think he is the best country singer of all time.
