Over 500 Businesses Attend DOT OSDBU Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Vendor Day

Today, the DOT’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) hosted a Small Business Vendor Day focusing on the Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) community at DOT headquarters in Washington, DC.  Representatives of over 500 businesses were in attendance coming from as far away as Michigan, Alabama, South Carolina, and Texas.

OSDBU Director, Brandon Neal kicked off the event welcoming the attendees and thanking them for taking time out of their busy schedules.  He was joined by DOT’s Assistant Secretary for Administration, Linda Washington and Deputy Secretary John D. Porcari in providing an overview on the priorities that the department and the administration as a whole are focusing on in the transportation area.

In honor of Veterans Day, this event’s theme was focused on SDVOSBs, and featured speakers included Congressman Patrick Murphy of Pennsylvania, an Iraq-war veteran and Matt Flavin, Director of the White House Office of Veterans and Wounded Warrior Policy both of whom expressed their support for the SDVOSB program.

Representatives from each of the major DOT operating administrations then spoke about their organization’s specific contracting needs in the upcoming year and their efforts to make these contracting opportunities available to SDVOSBs.
