Deployed Units

The requirement to watch out for your Soldiers' welfare with regard to substance abuse does not stop when your unit deployed. We are an Expeditionary Army and units serving in deployed areas face unique challenges when it comes to the execution of the unit level substance abuse program.

  • AKO Page for Deployed Commanders and UPLs

Operational sensitive information is posted in AKO. A link to the material in AKO will force you to log in; you may have to click the link again to view or download the material.

  • ASAP Guidance for Deployed Commanders

The ASAP Guidance for Deployed Commanders is posted in AKO. This link will for force you to log into AKO; you may have to click the link again to view or download the material. AR 600-85 requires commanders to maintain their substance abuse programs to the maximum extent practical while deployed. All units (company or larger) need to mobilize and deploy with at least two (2) certified UPLs and 100% drug testing supplies (random testing and other testing contingencies).

  • QC/Packaging/Shipping Specimens (CENTCOM) (Previous DA Mandated UPL Retraining)

DA Mandate for UPL Retraining has expired. Training material via this link is still available for local use by deployed commanders and UPLs. CDRs/UPLs need to follow this QC/Packaging/Shipping procedure to ensure all specimens are testable.

  • UPL Certification & Recertification

Initial Certification & Recertification of UPLs to comply with AR 600-85 and conduct military unit collections.

  • ACSAP Registration for USPS MRS Mail Labels

(DO NOT register if you had ACSAP Portal username and password). Only UPLs serving units currently deployed in ARCENT/CENTCOM AO may use the USPS MRS Mail Labels to ship specimens to Tripler Forensic Drug Testing Laboratory. UPL certified online via ACSAP website must use the existing ACSAP Portal username and password. Other UPLs MUST register with ACSAP Portal to use the USPS MRS MAIL Labels.

  • Tracking Specimen Package at USPS

Check package status by MRS Label Barcode. Go to www.usps.com > click Track & Confirm > enter barcode > click Find.

  • Deployed Drug Testing Results

All units MUST contact the BAC Manager to confirm BAC for testing, results reporting procedure, and other support for unit's ASAP. Incorrect use of BAC may cause test results to be un-reportable.

This tool allows the Commander or his representative to check if any drug testing results have been posted in the last 120 days based on the unit identification code (UIC).
