Are trainings offered through OVC TTAC?

Are online trainings offered through OVC TTAC?

Two online trainings are available. Victim Assistance Training Online is a basic victim advocacy web-based training program that offers victim service providers and allied professionals the opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to better assist victims of crime. Identity Theft Victim Assistance Online Training is a user-friendly e-learning tool that provides victim service professionals and allied professionals the knowledge and skills to more effectively serve victims of identity theft and assist with their financial and emotional recovery. OVC TTAC also offers live interactive, facilitated training sessions and conferences, which are recorded and transcribed for unlimited access. Visit the Webinars page for more information.

Are instructor materials available?

OVC offers several curricula for instructors to use in their trainings. Visit the Instructor Materials page to find downloadable training materials in specialized topic areas.

What do I need to do to obtain customized training or technical assistance? How do I request a speaker for an event?

Visit the Customized Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) page for specific eligibility requirements, application information, and FAQs. Note that requests for assistance must be submitted at least 135 days prior to the date of the event - NO EXCEPTIONS.

OVC also offers Training by Request as another option for program leaders who wish to organize a specific training for their own region.

Can my organization receive an OVC Crime Victim/Survivor Scholarship, Training by Request (TBR) and Customized Training and Technical Assistance Program award in the same year?

No, only one OVC Crime Victim/Survivor Scholarship, TBR or Customized Training and Technical Assistance award may be awarded to a single organization in a 12-month period from the start date of the organization's last OVC-supported event.

I would like to apply for a Professional Development Scholarship. Where can I find the application?

Visit the Professional Development Scholarship Program page for specific eligibility requirements, application information, and FAQs. Note that applications must be submitted at least 45 calendar days prior to the date of the event - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Is my organization eligible for the Crime Victim/Survivor Scholarship Program?

The Crime Victim/Survivor Scholarship program is available to agencies and organizations sponsoring national or state conferences that focus on enhancing victim services. Visit the Crime Victim/Survivor Scholarship Program page for specific eligibility requirements, application information, and FAQs. Note that applications must be submitted at least 90 calendar days prior to the date of the event - NO EXCEPTIONS.

I am enrolled in OVC’s Consultant Network but I haven’t had any assignments. How do I get assigned to deliver training and technical assistance for OVC? Am I really needed?

TTA assignments are based on the needs from the victim services field and the requests that OVC TTAC receives. These needs and trends can vary from year to year and from region to region. The Consultant Network is very important to OVC. OVC holds all consultants in high regard.

What is the difference between TTA Expert Consultants and Victim/Survivor Impact Consultants?

The Victim/Survivor Impact Consultant primarily provides speaking engagements that address the impact of crime on the victim or survivor and their experiences through the reporting and criminal justice process. This may include testimony, conference plenary, or victim impact presentations. While a TTA Expert Consultant may be a victim or survivor of crime, the big difference in the consultant types comes down to technical skills and delivery type. TTA Expert Consultants are expected to be an expert in the areas of training delivery, capacity building, or programmatic development or management in victim services.

What is a learning community?

Learning communities promote information sharing, networking, and collaboration and support specific groups and populations. These secure online communities provide easy access to tools such as templates and guidelines, and promote collaboration in order to facilitate learning.
