Welcome to the Keesler Air Force Base Graduate Medical Education Program. The Keesler Medical Center sponsors residencies in General Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Dentistry. The Surgery and Medicine programs are fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and the Dental program by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). KMC is committed to complying with the Institutional Requirements of the ACGME as well as CODA. The goal of this GME office, in conjunction with our affiliated training institutions, is to provide an excellent basis for postgraduate education by offering comprehensive clinical and research programs, didactics, and supervision in the care of our patients.
Keesler Medical Center, a facility of the 81st Training Wing's 81st Medical Group, delivers compassionate, quality, and cost-effective healthcare while maintaining military readiness. With 60 operating inpatient beds and a staff of more than 1700, this modern and efficient medical center is a major concentration of professional capability offering the most current routine and specialized healthcare programs available today. The annual operating budget of more than $100 million supports comprehensive health and dental care, primary care, consultative support, graduate medical education programs, and a state-of-the-art clinical research facility.
Serving the Gulf Coast's more than 80,000 eligible beneficiaries, Keesler Medical Center also brokers healthcare in a variety of specialties to the beneficiaries in the Department of Defense Health Services Region IV, which covers all of Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, and parts of Louisiana and Florida. In addition, various programs have affiliations with universities and facilities in the surrounding region, including opportunities for rotations in Pensacola, Florida, Eglin AFB, Florida, UMMC, Mississippi, San Antonio, Texas, and Landstuhl RMC, Germany.
