Voluntary Departure (Verification of Departure)

The verification of departure service is not for U.S. citizens, however, to manage workload and facilitate access to the Consulate building we use the American Citizen Services appointment website.  There is no cost to make an appointment and no cost for this service.

What is a Voluntary Departure (“Verificaton of Departure”) service?

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) orders a foreigner (normally someone who has been living in the U.S. illegally) to voluntarily depart the U.S. by a certain date.  The individual (or a family member or friend) often puts up bond money.  The individual must appear before a consular officer at a Consulate or Embassy outside of the U.S. for their “Verification of Departure” form to be signed.  The form is called G-146 or I-210.

How do I make an appointment for my G-146 or I-210 form to be signed?

Visit the ACS Appointment System to schedule an appointment.  From the list of services you should select “Request notarial and other services not listed above.”  See below in yellow:

What do I bring to my appointment at the Consulate?

  1. Original G-146 or I-210 form given to you by DHS.
  2. Other DHS paperwork related to your voluntary departure such as bond agreement, court document, etc.  Your G-146, I-210, or other documents should clearly show your “A number.”
  3. Original, government issued photo identification such as Mexican passport, Mexican voter card, Mexican or U.S. driver license, Mexican “matricula consular” identification, etc.
  4. Proof of departure date from the U.S. (original airline boarding passes, bus tickets, gas and tolls paid at the land border if crossed into Mexico by car, etc.)
