Globetrotters Dazzle Bahrain Basketball Association

Globetrotters

Globetrotters

Fifty Bahraini youth from the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) visited the U.S. Navy base in Bahrain to see the Harlem Globetrotters dazzle fans with their unique combination of basketball, humor, and athleticism.  President of GOYS Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended the event, along with BBA Vice President Jassim Al Sindi, and BBA official Saeed Al Aradi.  The event, a cooperative effort between the Embassy and the Naval Support Activity, offered young Bahraini basketball fans an opportunity to experience one of the most exciting and entertaining parts of American sports culture.

Often referred to as Ambassadors of Goodwill, the Harlem Globetrotters have thrilled audiences throughout the world for since 1926.  Over this incredible span of 84 years, the Harlem Globetrotters introduced millions of people to the game of basketball, offering a positive image of American sports culture.  Much of what fans enjoy about the game today - high flying dunks, precision ball handling skills, and incredible showmanship - began with the Harlem Globetrotters.  The team's message, flair, and universal appeal help promote understanding among cultures, societies and people.
