Command Sergeant Major, William Beaumont Army Medical Center

Command Sergeant Major Matthew K. Cyr is a native of Carmel, Maine. He entered active service in March 1986 as a Combat Medic. He has completed the NREMT-B courses, held various emergency medical certifications and has earned his Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College, Albany, NY. He is currently pursuing his MHS in Emergency Management from Trident University International.

Command Sergeant Major Cyr has been selected to serve as the Hospital Command Sergeant Major for William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Ft Bliss, TX.

Command Sergeant Major Cyr has five deployments to various theatres of operations. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with V device (1st OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (5th OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4th OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5th OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Navy Unit Commendation; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal; Southwest Asia Service Medal (3bss); Korean Defense Service Medal; Drill Sergeant Identification Badge; Combat Medical Badge (2nd Award), Expert Field Medical Badge, Air Assault Badge, Order of Medical Merit, and various other awards and decorations.

Command Sergeant Major Cyr’s military education includes the First Sergeant Course, Resident Sergeant Major Course-Class 57, Pre-command/ Command Sergeants Major Course, Air Assault Course, Rappel Master Course, Battle Staff Course and is Combatives Level I certified.

Command Sergeant Major Cyr is married to the former Patricia A. Veloz of El Paso, Texas. They have two children: Erika and Omar.
