Administers and monitors the Army Safety and Occupational Health Program throughout USARJ
organizational elements. Included are all facets of safety and occupational health
involving USARJ personnel, buildings, facilities, aircraft, vehicles, explosives,
and equipment, to include both on- and off-duty activities. Serves as the USARJ
Career Program (CP) Manager (CPM) for the Safety Management career field within the
command. Serves as the principal staff adviser, technical consultant, and coordinator
in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all safety and occupational health
efforts within the command. Provides guidance for establishing and implementing plans,
policies, and procedures for conducting safety and occupational health activities. Provides
interpretation of safety and occupational health policies and procedures. Provides technical
and professional assistance to eliminate or control unsafe behavior and environments. Assists
subordinate commands in determining the numbers and qualifications of personnel necessary to
ensure an effective safety program. Assists subordinate commands in developing safety and
occupational health training.Distributes safety and occupational health promotional and
educational materials. Provides technical assistance in accident investigating and reporting
to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Reviews accident reports to ensure
compliance. Collects, analyzes, and disseminates data concerning accident experiences
within the command. Develops recommendations for corrective measures, when warranted by
adverse accident rates or trends, hazardous conditions or procedures, and other
deficiencies. Ensures that adequate safe practices and safe physical standards are
incorporated in operating procedures, manuals, directives, and other instructions.
Reviews plans to ensure the safety and occupational health of Army personnel and the
public. Conducts evaluations and inspections of safety programs and activities.
