    As part of International Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation and the U.S. Consulate General partnered to hold The Pink Ribbon Walk 2010 on Sunday, October 3rd from KBR Park at 6 a.m. The aim of the walk was to honor those women who have fought the illness with determination. It was also an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of regular exercise and an active lifestyle in reducing the risk of breast cancer.  »

    Musicians from across two continents, Charlie Porter from Florida and Jaywant Naidu from Hyderabad created a video 'Tribute to Tagore' as a tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on the eve of his 150th birth anniversary year. The video is an instrumental version of the Indian national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” played on trumpet and the “Jaywant Guitar,” a modified version of the Hawaiian Guitar.

    “Youth in any society should feel a calling to a vocation called democracy,” said Michael Malahy Morris, Director for Community Learning and Public Service, University of New Mexico. Mr. Morris was on a three-day speaking tour to Hyderabad and Vijayawada (August 9 to 11) sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad. In both cities he introduced students to the concepts of social responsibility, youth participation and civic duty.

Imam Arafat’s lecture tour included dialogue with members of prominent NGOs such as COVA, the Islamic Research and Education Foundation (IREF), the Islamic seminary Madrasa Al-Mahad-ul Aali-Al-Islami and the interfaith organization Henry Martyn Institute

    On Saturday - April 24, 2010 - Public Affairs Officer Juliet Wurr spent time with little ones at a summer camp at Odyssey. PAO Wurr gave the children a brief introduction to America. She talked about President Obama, a few important states and also taught them a few fun American songs. This summer camp organized by the Sancta Maria International School was called 'Around The World' and was aimed at giving children a taste of few important nations around the world.
