Other Nonimmigrant Visas

(A3, B1, C, D, H1B, J, L, M)

Exchange Visitors (J1, J2)

Applicants for a J visa should follow the same procedure as applicants for student visas (F1,F2), using a DS-2019 instead of an I20 form.

Vocational Students (M1, M2)

After receiving admission to a vocational or nonacademic program you will receive an I-20 form.  All applicants for M visas follow the same procedure as applicants for student visas (F1, F2).

Diplomatic and Official (A1, A2)

In addition to completing the online application, all A1 and A2 applicants will need a diplomatic note with the following information:

  1. Name and Passport number for applicant and family members if they are traveling with primary applicant
  2. Length of stay
  3. Destination in the U.S.
  4. Type of official assignment (official meeting, assigned to work for diplomatic mission, attending official training)
  5. Date and number for the diplomatic note.

Personal and Domestic Employees (B1)

If you are travelling to the United States to work for an employer with a nonimmigrant visa you will need to bring a valid contract to your interview.

Please bring a copy of your employer’s visa to the interview.

You will follow the same procedure as applicants for B1/B2 visas.

Personal and Domestic Employees of Nonimmigrants with A Visas (A3)

If you are travelling to the United States to work for an employer with an A nonimmigrant visa you will need to bring a valid contract in English and your native language to your interview. Contract Requirements for domestic Workers in the US (Diplomatic)

Additionally, you must bring a copy of your employer's valid A1 or A2 visa.  Please note that A category visas are exempt from visa fees and thus do not require an applicant to bring a SAMBA MRV Fee Receipt to the interview.

You will follow the same procedure for scheduling an interview, bringing photos, and filling out an application as B1/B2 applicants.  Please also note that in certain circumstances, a pre-notification must be given to the Office of Foreign Missions at the State Department for an applicant to qualify for this visa. 

Temporary Workers (H1B, H4)

Please bring a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, or your I-129 petition receipt number to the interview.

Please bring cash to pay any and all fees associated with your application.

You will follow the same procedure as applicants for B1/B2 visas.

Intracompany Transferees (L1, L2)

Please bring a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, or your I-129 petition receipt number to the interview.

Please bring cash to pay any and all fees associated with your application.

You will follow the same procedure as applicants for B1/B2 visas.

Crew Visas(C1/D, D)

You will follow the same procedure as applicants for B1/B2 visas.

Fiancés and Spouses of US Citizens (K, IR1, CR1)
