When a Macedonian holiday falls on a weekend day, the Government of Macedonia usually issues a proclamation a few days before the holiday informing the public that a different day will be the “observed” holiday.  Post will inform Mission employees, post management officer and country desk officer should this occur.

Employees who request time off for observance of the religious holidays listed below will be required to use annual and/or compensatory leave in accordance with 3 FAM 3465. Leave approving officials are encouraged to be liberal in granting leave to permit employees to participate in religious observances when conditions of work permit. Compensatory time, non-monetary overtime, or working one holiday in lieu of another is permissible under the FAM instructions. Please contact the Human Resources Office if you have questions concerning leave procedures for religious holiday observance.

The following are Macedonian government-designated religious and ethnic community holidays that are only for those of specific faiths or ethnic communities.
