Immigrant Visas
You may qualify to immigrate to the United States if you are:
- A spouse or immediate relative of an American citizen or legal permanent resident
- The fiancé of an American citizen
- A prospective employee of an employer in the United States
- Selected through the Diversity Visa (DV) lottery program
All prospective immigrants except for DV candidates must have a petition filed on their behalf. The “petitioner” is the person or company who files the petition, and the “beneficiary” is the prospective immigrant.

Please note: the following persons may accompany a visa applicant during Consular-related visits:
- Special Needs Visitors: Applicants who have special needs due to a physical disability may be accompanied by ONE person. An adult may also be admitted if appearing on behalf of an applicant who is a minor child.
- Due to space limitations, only applicants with scheduled appointments for visa interviews will be allowed inside the waiting rooms. American Citizen immigrant visa petitioners and all other non-applicants must remain outside.
New USCIS Immigrant Fee: Effective February 1, 2013, all individuals (with several exceptions, please see the website for more information) issued immigrant visas overseas must pay a $165.00 USCIS Immigrant Fee before traveling to the United States.
