Tanesashi Coast and Hiking Trail

"A beautiful coast that stretches 12 kilometers to the southeast from Kabushima Island. Looking out to the natural lawn that spreads up to the water, waves hitting the rocks, and gulls flying overhead, one forgets about the passing of time. A path is cleared along the coast and beautiful flowers bloom in the area during spring and summer. In addition to an observation deck, there are recreational facilities for swimming, camping, and fishing."
Tanesashi coast
rocky coastline

The Tanesashi coast is a spectacular stretch of rocky coastline interrupted by a mile-long white beach suitable for swimming and surfing.
You can hike on a trail the begins at a monument/lookout and continues across the mile-long beach to another trail that parallels the rocky coast to a wide grassy meadow/campground near a fishing port.
There are activities for all age levels. It is safe to swim and surf at the beach if the conditions are right. The beach itself is clean and more beautiful than others closer to Misawa.
The hiking trail is not too long or strenuous, but it does have some steps and uphill sections. The boulders and rocks are fun to climb on, but be careful.
