Welcome from the Consul General

Welcome to the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Caracas.  The Consular Section has two main missions:

• to provide a wide range of emergency and routine services to U.S. citizens visiting or residing in Venezuela, such as offering help in the event of serious illness or arrest, issuing U.S. passports, registering the births of U.S. citizens in Venezuela, and providing assistance to recipients of Social Security and other Federal benefits; and 
• to provide immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services to Venezuelans and citizens of other countries who are in Venezuela. 

Last year, the Consular Section processed approximately 280,000 applications for nonimmigrant visas and 2,000 applications for immigrant visas, making it possible for Venezuelans from various backgrounds and walks of life to travel to the United States.  With its variety of tourist destinations, diverse cultures, dynamic business environment, and spectacular landscapes, the United States has much to offer visitors.
