Senator Kirk established the Women’s Advisory Board (WAB) in the fall of 2011 to advise the Senator on issues affecting women and children, and to assist him in advancing the needs of Illinois families. The Advisory Board is composed of 20 women from different backgrounds and communities throughout Illinois. WAB has three committees: Violence Against Women and Children; Women and Family Health; and Employment and Entrepreneurship for women. The Advisory Board has had four meetings this year, and will be meeting again in July. The meetings focus primarily on issues such as heart disease, breast cancer, and human trafficking.
