TAFB Experimental Gridded Marine Forecasts

The Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch (TAFB) is providing on an experimental basis five (5) day forecasts of gridded Mean Sea Level Pressure, Surface (10-m) winds and significant wave heights in netCDF format. Several free software packages are available for viewing netCDF data.

If you are interested in viewing these data with GrADS (Grid Analysis and Display System), you may find Mark Sponsler's GrADS test and example page helpful.

The netCDF files consist of 6-hourly forecast periods. Each forecast period has a start and end time given in UNIX epoch time. Free conversion tools, such as http://www.onlineconversion.com/unix_time.htm, allow one to change Unix epoch time to human readable time.

As these data are experimental, there may be times where the updates are not timely or not available. Experimental products should be not be solely relied upon to make important decisions regarding weather forecasts. For more information about these gridded forecasts, please see the complete description pages.

Please provide your comments and feedback on the experimental grids.
