Native To: Mexico and Central America

Date of U.S. Introduction: First found in Texas in 1927

Means of Introduction: Annually migrates into southern Texas; may be introduced to other areas through the movement of infested fruit

Impact: Larvae attack numerous fruits of economic significance, particularly grapefruit, oranges, pear, peach, and apple
