Principal I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our students at Kaiserslautern American High School. Parents have an open invitation to visit our school at any time your dependent is in session. Both parents and students are asked to "keep in touch" with their teachers on a weekly basis. We ask that they do not wait until the end of a grading period to find out their progress was not what they expected.

KAHS has a fine tradition of excellence in the classroom and students can expect to be given plenty of homework and other assignments from all of their teachers. Although their teachers will continue to challenge students academically, everyone is expected to communicate with their teachers if their grades start to falter. Parents are also asked to call the school anytime their children will not be able to attend school or will be late to classes due to medical or other appointments. All students are encouraged to join and take part in extra curricular activities so they can become active members of our community. Students also are encouraged to become members of student government so they can become active leaders at KAHS. I believe students should be actively involved in the other public forums, such as SAC, PTO and the School Board. These are public forums that allow students to voice their concerns in school and throughout the community.

Take full advantage of all the opportunities that are offered at our school so you can have a fruitful career during your short stay at KAHS. The assistant principal and I have an open door policy and welcome students to come in and visit us if you have any questions or concerns about school-related activities.

Barriett Smith, Principal
