Growing The Economy & Creating Jobs

With national unemployment still at historically high levels, job creation is a top priority. Government spending and regulations have placed an unnecessary burden on our economy. In my experience as a farmer, rancher and small business owner, I have seen first-hand how federal regulations impact businesses’ ability to invest, hire and grow. To strengthen the economy and spur job creation, we need to eliminate burdensome regulations and rein in reckless federal spending.

I have supported efforts to require that Congress take an up-or-down vote on all new major regulations before they can go into effect. I have also supported Red Tape Reduction that would prevent significant regulations from being put into place until unemployment reaches 6 percent or less. The House has also passed over 30 pieces of jobs legislation to help America’s job creators.

I will continue to work for what’s best for South Dakota’s small business economy. My assignments to the Agriculture, Education and Workforce, and Natural Resources Committees present unique opportunities to impact job creation on behalf of South Dakota.
