A U.S. $1,750,000 grant to the Education for Employment (EFE)

EFE-Tunisie celebrated the graduation of 31 young Tunisians, who were trained in the WS program that trains unemployed Tunisian youth in workplace principles and places them in jobs.
The United States provided $1,750,000 grant to the Education for Employment (EFE) organization to conduct a three-year program in Tunisia entitled Tunisia Youth Economic Opportunity and Civic Engagement. This project seeks to launch job placement, business entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship programs for 800 youth over a two-year period. Tunisian youth will receive market-relevant skills training through a dual-track providing: 1) employability and entrepreneurship training for 300 unemployed, out-of-school youth (ages 18-24 and 25-35); 2) job placements or access to start-up business resources and support systems for 240 unemployed youth (80% of trainees); and 3) employability training for 500 university students (ages 18-24) that also builds the capacity of one or more Tunisian universities. Up to 800 youth will receive access to career profile or entrepreneurship assessment tools and job matching services through an online and/or mobile technology platform. Participants will also be enrolled in an Alumni program that links them with capital, mentors and business incubators, and engages them in civic participation activities to further encourage social and business enterprises. Ultimately the project will provide a locally integrated model to present to public authorities in Tunisia as they implement education reform.
On July 18th, the P/E deputy chief, George Aldridge, participated in the graduation ceremony of the first two Workplace Success (WS) classes in Tunis, Tunisia.
