Grab and Go
You can learn about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and share information
with others through our "Grab and Go" feature. Here you will find camera-ready documents
discussing the health and social impacts of FASD. You can download these publications
for reference or copy and distribute them at PTA meetings, health fairs, doctors'
offices, and in other settings. All documents are in the public domain and can be
adapted as needed; most include a space for adding your organization’s contact information.
FASD Catalog
This catalogue provides a listing of FASD-related publications available from the
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). These publications
will help you learn about the effects of FASD and how
to protect children. These materials also discuss the dangers to the child and the
problems the family often faces when alcohol is consumed during pregnancy.
Fact Sheets and Brochures
These fact sheets and brochures offer a broad selection of information about the risks of drinking alcohol during pregnancy. They describe what FASD is, what causes it, and how it can be prevented. They also provide strategies to support individuals with an FASD and information for families and professionals dealing with these disorders.
American Indian / Alaska Native
/ Native Hawaiian Resource Kit
This resource kit was developed to help American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian
communities understand and prevent FASD. It includes brochures, factsheets, posters,
and a list of resources specifically directed at Native communities.
Rack Cards and Posters
The SAMHSA FASD Center for Excellence has designed a variety of useful rack cards
and posters that generate interest in the dangers of drinking during pregnancy;
they can be posted and made available in many settings such as doctors’ offices, liquor stores, and bars.

Public Service Announcements
This section contains public service announcements that are ready to print and easy
to send to local newspapers, magazines, and newsletters for publication. Just add
your organization's contact information and distribute ready-made PSAs in your community.
FASD - The Basics
This PowerPoint presentation provides an introduction to FASD for people with no
prior knowledge or experience with the topic. It can also serve as a review for
professionals who want to learn more about FASD. Presenters can use the slide show
in its entirety or use certain slides to focus on specific aspects of FASD.

system. It also describes findings presented in the article "The Financial Impact

Reach to Teach: Educating Elementary and Middle School Children with Fetal Alcohol
Spectrum Disorders
Reach to Teach is a resource guide for parents of a child with an FASD and for teachers
in elementary and middle schools who work with children who have an FASD. It provides
a basic introduction to these disorders and tools to improve communication between
parents and teachers.
