Immigrant Visas

An immigrant visa is required if you want to reside or work in the United States. Detailed information about immigrant visas, including the diversity lottery program, can be found at the Department of State's Visa Services page.

You will be contacted in writing by the National Visa Center and be given an appointment date.

The best way to contact the Consular Section is via e-mail at IVDVACCRA@state.gov. Please do not send unsolicited documents via fax or mail. The Consular Section assumes no responsibility for such documents.

Hours of Operation

Interviews are conducted by appointment:

PLEASE NOTE: The U.S. Embassy in Accra considers visa fraud to be a serious issue. According to U.S. visa regulations, applicants who submit forged or altered documents or who make a false statement may become permanently ineligible for a visa to the United States. In addition, applicants who commit fraud may be subject to prosecution under Ghanaian law.

Only U.S. consular officers have the authority to issue visas. Any individual or group claiming to assist or facilitate visa issuance should be reported immediately to the Consular Section.
